Privacy Policy
Last updated: November 3, 2026
The short version: we collect what you send us through our forms so we can reply and build your preview, and we only use analytics or ad pixels if you accept cookies. We don’t sell your information. You can ask to see or delete it any time through hello@blueherondigital.ca.
Blue Heron Digital Incorporated, a federal corporation (Corporation No. 1099964-4), (“Blue Heron Digital”, “we”, “us”) follows Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and its fair information principles. This policy covers this website and the enquiries you send us.
1. Who is responsible
We are responsible for personal information under our control. Our Privacy Officer can be reached through hello@blueherondigital.ca.
2. What we collect
- Form and booking information: what you type into our preview, callback and booking forms: name, business name, trade, service area, phone, email, current website, preferred call times and any notes.
- Public business information: to build a free preview we may use public details about your business, such as your Google Business Profile, listed services, photos you’ve published and public reviews.
- Essential, anonymous site events: when someone clicks a call, email or booking link or submits a form, our own server records the event type, the page and general context (like the trade or area selected). This uses no cookies and no identifiers, and isn’t used to identify you. It helps us keep the site and forms working.
- Analytics and ad pixels, only with your consent: if you click “Accept” on our cookie notice, we may load Google Analytics, Google Ads and the Meta (Facebook) Pixel. These set cookies and collect things like pages viewed, device and browser type, approximate location and how you arrived. If you decline, they don’t load.
- Server logs: our hosting provider keeps standard technical logs (such as IP address and browser type) for security and reliability.
3. Why we use it
- To reply to your enquiry, schedule calls and prepare your website preview.
- To provide, bill for and support services you buy from us.
- To keep our website secure and working, and, with your consent, to understand which pages and ads bring in enquiries.
- To meet legal and accounting obligations.
We use your information only for these purposes, or others we tell you about and get your consent for. We don’t sell or rent personal information.
4. Consent
By sending a form you consent to us using that information to respond to you. Analytics and ad cookies are optional and off until you accept. You can change your choice any time: . You can also withdraw consent for anything else by contacting us through hello@blueherondigital.ca; we’ll tell you if that affects what we can do for you. We only send marketing email with your consent, in line with Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL), and every message has an unsubscribe link.
5. Cookies
- Essential: we store your cookie choice in your browser so we don’t ask again. Our anonymous site-event logging uses no cookies.
- Analytics and advertising (optional): Google Analytics, Google Ads and Meta Pixel cookies, loaded only after you click “Accept”. They help us measure visits and the results of any ads.
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
6. Who we share it with
We share personal information only with service providers who help us run the business, and only what they need:
- Website hosting: Vercel (hosts this site and processes form submissions and server logs).
- Scheduling: Cal.com, if you book a call through our booking page.
- Email and messaging: our email and text/SMS providers, to deliver your enquiry to us and our replies to you.
- Analytics and advertising (with your consent): Google (Analytics, Ads) and Meta.
- Payments and accounting: our payment processor and accountant, if you become a client.
We also disclose information if the law requires it. Our providers must protect your information and use it only to provide their services to us.
7. Where it’s stored
Some providers store or process data outside Canada, including in the United States, so it may be subject to the laws of those countries. We choose reputable providers with strong security practices.
8. How long we keep it
- Enquiries that don’t become projects: up to 24 months, then deleted.
- Client records: for as long as you’re a client, then as long as tax and legal rules require (generally up to 7 years for financial records).
- Analytics data: according to the retention settings of the analytics tool (we use the shortest practical setting).
9. How we protect it
We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls and reputable providers, and we limit access to people who need it. If a breach creates a real risk of significant harm, we’ll notify you and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada as PIPEDA requires.
10. Your rights: access, correction, deletion
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted (unless we have to keep it by law). Contact us through hello@blueherondigital.ca with “Privacy request” in the subject. We’ll reply within 30 days. If you’re not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
11. Our clients’ websites
When we install tracking (such as Google Analytics or an ad pixel) on a client’s website, that site also gets its own privacy policy and a cookie notice. The client is responsible for the information collected on their site; we act as their service provider.
12. Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version.
